Dr. (Smt.) Neeta Mathur was initiated into music at an early age by her mother Smt. Uma Mathur. Neeta has been groomed under the traditional Guru Shishya parampara. She has learnt Khayal singing under the guidance of Vidushi (Prof.) Krishna Bisht, a well-known Classical Exponent of Delhi Gharana. Neeta has also learnt some rare compositions, Ragas and sacred padas of "Pushti Marg" from Padma Bhushan Acharya (Pt.) Gokulotsavji Maharaj.

Educational Qualifications - M.A., M.Phil, Ph.D. (Delhi University),
Professional Qualifications - Approved Artiste 'A' Grade (All India Radio), Empanelled artiste of ICCR, New Delhi.

Dr. Neeta has performed in the prestigious Music concerts. Her National Programme of Music was recently telecast by Delhi Doordarshan's National Channel. She is an approved artiste (A grade) of All India Radio and Doordarshan, Delhi and has participated in various concerts viz. Haridas Sangeet Sammelan (Mumbai, Vrindavan), Sahitya Kala Parishad's "Yuva Mahotsav"( Delhi ), India International Centre (Delhi), India Habitat Centre (Delhi), Epicentre (Gurgaon), Sur Shree Kesarbai Kerkar Music Festival(Goa), Ustad Alladiya Khan Music Festival (Mumbai), ICCR's Horizon series(Azad Bhawan, Delhi), ICCR's Horizon series in collaboration with Kala Prakash (Varanasi), Kashi Samaj (Varanasi),  All India Music Conference in memory of Ustad Chand Khan, Poorva Sanskritik Kendra (Delhi), Triveni Auditorium (Delhi), Jawahar Kala Kendra (Jaipur), Maharashtra Cultural Centre (Pune), Ustad Ameer Khan Sabha Grah (Indore), Panchakshar Sangeet Samaroh (Bhopal), Bhawan's Cultural Centre (Mumbai), 'Swaranjali' Gurupurnima Festival (Udaipur), Malhar Utsav of Prachin Kala Kendra (Chandigarh), Bhatkhande Music College (Jabalpur, M.P.) and many other music conferences in India and abroad. She gave a lecture - presentation on "Haveli Compositions in Hindustani Classical Music" organized by the IHC Music Club, India Habitat Centre.

Neeta has also been enlisted as an artiste on the panel of Indian Council for Cultural Relations. 

Besides being a Khayal exponent, she also has a flair for Haveli Sangeet, Raagmala, Tarana and other traditional classical forms.

Dr. Neeta Mathur’s work over the past three decades can be categorized into multiple contributions and achievements in the field of Hindustani Classical Music. Dr. Neeta Mathur has command over both the aspects of classical music (Shastra (theory) and Prayog (performance)) 

The author of the books titled "Hindustani Sangeet Mein Holi Gayan", ” Shastriya Sangeet Ke Bahuayami Stambh Pandit Gokulotsavji Maharaj" and "Shastriya Sangeet Ke Surya". She has also written notations of the self-composed Bandishs of Ustad Chand Khan of Delhi Gharana in the 'Ustad Chand Khan Centenary Volume' published in 1999. Besides being performer, she is also a scholar of Indian Musicology and has a number of published articles and research papers to her credit. She has been working relentlessly for the promotion of Haveli Sangeet (Temple Music of Pushti Marg) and has given performances/ lecture demonstrations with audio - video illustrations. She has also written research articles on Pushti Margiya Pad gaan parampara.She has given Lecture / Demonstrations and paper presentations in the National and International Seminars and Symposiums.  Dr. Mathur has given series of Lectures on Indian Music and Culture to the students from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Busan University, South Korea and Hamburg University, Germany studying at the Department of Linguistics, Delhi University.  

She is a teacher par excellence with long and continuous span of teaching experience (Professor, Vivekananda College, Delhi University, teaching faculty (permanent).

Dr. Neeta has written several scripts and musical features for All India Radio, Delhi. She has appeared on DD1 National Channel's Classical Music programmes, Aaj SavereGood Evening Live Show and Zee Network's "Morning Show” etc. Dr. Mathur has also been invited as a guest speaker (classical music) in the National Programme of Talks,  'Pehchaan' and 'Stree Shakti' programmes of National Channel, AIR, Delhi. She has given an illustrated talk on 'Khayal' on the National channel, AIR, Delhi. She wrote a special feature on 'Holi' (1 hour duration) for Delhi A Radio Station. Her talk on the Temple Music of Pushtimarg was recorded for the External Services of All India Radio.

She has also organized few public concerts for the promotion of Classical Music. Her work has been appreciated and recognized by the renowned classical musicians and academicians.

She moderated several online interactive discussions with eminent musicians under the series 'Sangeet Samvad' during Covid lockdown  period to spread awareness against the pandemic.
 
Dr.Neeta Mathur was also featured in the 'Kala Setu' special program of Doordarshan's Loksabha channel.
